I'm curious about some of the user names I have seen since joining this site. So, how or why did you choose your user name?
Mine is pretty obvious -- I love cats. I am not very creative and generaly use my real first name on other sites, but since not many people do that here, I decided to pick cat lover.

The short version is this: I made it up *grins*.
I've actually had my handle since fall of 1996 back in colege. How it ended up that way was a friend and I did alot of pubbing, and for security sake she and I used aliases, I was Eddie Renegade, and it just so happened we were going out for lunch one day after classes, and I'm saying to this friend that this eddie renegade character fits quite good, and she's like and you're also quite the rocker, and I'm like hey! renegade rocker! I love the sound of that! and it stuck from that moment on.
My initials are K R, so K R is me. I like the way Jaws pronounces it, though I was originally hoping it would say Krismee or something like that. I was going to use my first name, but not many people don't, and I have my first name in my profile anyway.

When I first went blind three years ago, the doctors didn't think i would live through it all. I am here so guess what i did! lol! I would always joke that everyone calling me a angel was annoying, so my aunt and i always call each other that just as a personal joke. And of course I was born in 77
Well, I was surfing the web a wile ago, and I came across a site devoted to Quiet, Please, which is an old time radio series from 1947 to 1949. The site is http://www.quietplease.org, and one of the eps for download was called THREE. There's one line out of this ep that I like very much. Subastion is trying to use the phone, and he diles some numbers, but every time, he heres: "No Sir, this is 3 3 3 3" So, I thought about that, and about how the ep was right in saying that 3 showed up everywhere. For my aim screen name, I did src10988, so, I just tok src, and 333, and there you have it! This is src333 signing off! And remember... watch out for the number three! Hahahaha!
I used to be metal girl on the zone. I came up with that first username back when I used Graffiti phone chat. I was going by Tallica on J-Smart trivia because Metallica was one of my favorite bands. I thought to myself, "hey, I like a lot of other metal" and metal chick, metal lady, or metal woman just didn't fit, so metal girl stuck until 2002. Blind Guardian, a melodic metal band I love, came out with an album called A Night At The Opera and the leading lady of an opera is called an aida (pronounced i e duh) so I started going by aida_melodica Now that the A Night At The Opera hype is over, I took off the aida and now just go by melodica. Funny, I found out a melodica is a musical instrument, lol!
Lol I am beginning to be quite well known under this user name, it is quite sad really! especially when I got cornered in for-the-people by this old Indian dude who kind of kept using it as though it was my real name! Lol! it is my name on there, on live Journal, here and Skype now. Well the first two letters are the first initials of my first and middle names (Rachel Dianne), and "freak" almost rhymes with my sirname Keyte Lol (as a fallo zoner once proclaimed! ha ha! And I seem to be in the habbit of calling meself a "freak" now, and I use it on others instead of less appropriate words. :)
I just always thought Savannah was a nice name so I used it.

I got the name bug from my mom who always called me Lizzybug. It's a personal thing between me and her.
I had used "leilani82 as my name on both HotBraille and Eyes2Eyes, but decided to try out a different one here both because I wanted to be more creative in that and because I found that hardly anyone here used their real names. My screen name that I use for MSN is Tinkerbell, so I decided to use that one here. And I thought up Tinkerbell because I recently became somewhat interested in fairies, elves, pixies, and stuff like that. So yeah; Tinkerbell just sounds cool to me. *smiles*

Right, here's the story. My first and middle names are Derek Jon. So the initials are D.J. Well, Caitlin, who fittingly has the username of Caitlin on here, started calling me DJ. At that point, we had gotten into the habbit of saying initials as words, even if there were no vowels. For example, CD became could, etc. Well, DJ became doodge, which has the vowel sound in could and book. Doodge is the way you spell it to make Keynote synthesizers say it right. Then, Caitlin started calling me Doodge-man, inspired after Smash Mouth's "Road Man." In fact, she always used to sing it to that toon. So, then I just started using doodgeman, or sometimes thedoodgeman, as my usernames. So it's Caitlin who actually made up my username, I just use it.
Derek, you left out the part about how my dad called you Didgee-mon, I have no clue how to spell that, but after that Pok`emon spoof thing. Hahhahaa! And you got all mad. That was funny! But yeah. Go Doodgeman, cool name. Well all of you have cool names. But I just felt like replying, so I'm saying Doodgeman has a cool name.

My name came as a result of lack of creativity. First name, last initial. I used it on the old accessible chat and never mustered the energy to come up with something different.
PUtting in my two cents to answer this question, my name hlast, is nothing more than the initial of my first name, Hans and my last name of Last. While on several message board sites I use hlast1019, which the 1019 resembles my birthday, October 19th.
This is like a question I asked over on another site, E-Pals at eyes2eyes.com, but I don't think there were quite as many responses there as here when the question was asked.

Where did the name Jeffery Mewtamer come from you ask? Well Jeffery is my first name. As for Mewtamer, I used to be a major pokemon fanatic. I once wrote a fanfiction where Me and my friends turn out to be the descendents of the first person to ever tame the power of Mew. That is where the title Mewtamer came from.

hi everyone, im very much enjoying learning about peoples names here. Mine came from 3 simple words and themes. Japan, because I love the culture, and want to visit there someday. Anime because it's so much better than american television, and the japanese invented it, and angel because a lot of people tell me i am angelic. I dunno how true that is, but 3what ever. Puggle, is teh scientific name for a baby platapus. Funny looking little fluffy animals with duck bills from Australia. I think the word is cute. And also PUggle is slightly more creative than AussieGal which was my name on Hotbraille.
Hollywood is my judo name, coach is an ex-tank commandar, and he usually has nick names for everyone in the club, a lot of the times i will only know a person by their nick. we have, peggy sue, turbo, big greek, big ucraine, leelo, ranger ben, pepper, who use to be monkey fish, bubbah, minnisota slim, dairy queen, psycho killer keskasay, and tons of others that have come and gone.
I was getting interviewed by a paper and while everyone else was sweating away at their push ups, I was relaxing, answering questions about how cool I was and the like, and finally my coach yells over, yelling is the only setting he has, HAY HOLLYWOOD? ARE YOU GOING TO COME AND JOIN us SOON? and it just stuck, The quiet hansome latin thing with shades helps.

Hmm, let's see (or not, since we're all half blind ;) ). There was an alcoholic drink called wildbrew (4%). I used to love it because it had ghurana (sort of like caffeine) in it, it tasted awesome and it wasn't that alcoholic, it meant when I partied I could keep drinking that stuff all night and I'd stay awake and not too drunk and the taste was the best .. oh and everyone else I know hated the taste so no one bugged me for a bottle <grin>. Anyways, I decided to use this as my email address when I signed up with an ISP but the guy at the store must have been kinda tired or dumb or somethingb because he spelled the address with an e wildebrew. However I soon realized that this was much cooler than wildbrew so I adapted the name .. and now I couldn't be anything else. Too bad they changed the drink, it comes in tiger-skin patterned bottles which are really amazingly cool but it tastes absolutely horrible and I could not ever drink it. That's, ladies and gents, is how I got my nickname .. QED

As for me, I used to play poker in AllInplay and I very often go to zero in my chips and have to go and play with the bots to get back some chips so I can play at the real tables. Before I tell you about this name, I like to tell you guys is that my real name is Precilla and I guess lots of you know by now. Smile. So at the poker tables and even some of my friends whom I know through internet will called me Cilla or Cill. And so from there I gave myself this name Cill Bot.

people use to think would I ever make up my mind on what name to use on the net I have had so many in the past and luckally I still remember most how ever I at last found one that stuck with me. Kyara comes from the second lion king movie. Kyara is the name of simba's daughter and I just liked the name so it's stuck. how ever some sites I've noticed on the web it's already taken so in that case I'll use Nickibooh or comanike. I won't go in to those too cause it would make to long a post but there ya go. unfortunately eloquence pronounces kyara all wrong it's actually pronounced Keeara.

I started using wonderwoman on the accessible chat program. I was corresponding with a man who went by doc savage on there. I was debating whether or not to download it, because until then, I had never used text chat, and didn't know if I would like it.
He told me i could use a screen name on there if i wanted to, and he suggested wonderwoman, because for one thing, no one had taken it. Since I'm the oldest person on the zone, a littleexplanation is in order.
There use to be a science fiction type program on tv. She was called wonderwoman, and she came from another planet, and she had super powers. When accessible chat went bust, I still liked it, so I started using it everywhere I could. Wish i could've used it on live journal, but it was taken, so had to settle for wonderqueen. Oh well, I rather like being a queen, but I really love using wonderwoman.
Mine is rather interesting. While at the Ontario School for the Blind, now the W. Ross MacDonald School, we were playing a blind version of baseball. The teacher told me to hit the ball with the bat I had in my hand when I heard it coming. So, well, not wanting to be disobedient, lolol, I hit that ball, and hit it so hard, it busted! lolol! The teacher blew the whistle and said "Hold it! Lynn broke the ball!". The noise it made when it burst was something that sounded akin to a plane breaking the sound barrier! lol! So, ever after that, I was "boom", "boomer", or "Lynn the boomer". So, that's where my user name came from.

Anyways, my nickname is for a lot of reasons.
First of all, Goldberg is my favorite wrestler, and he has inspired me in a lot of ways. We are a lot alike, and are attitudes are similar.
I am also a wrestling champion of my school, and my wrestling style is a lot like Goldberg's. Others on my team began to call me Goldberg because I am close to unbeatable.
People tell me I look like him also, but I really couldn't tell you if that's true because I can't see a dam thing. lol

Hey. Well I chose my username for a couple of reasons. Firstly, there was a movie called Lost Boy...it was a vampire movie and so ya. I took the Lost part and added Girl. Lost is also such a dark word to me for some reason and I like the dark. Lol don't ask. The number 27 is just a number I like.

One day, I went out for dinner with family at the Harvester. Everyone else had coffee after but I don't like coffee. Anyway, the waiter brought the tray of milk and cream and sugar and I, being quite bored by this time, was just fiddling round with the sugar bags, being a dork. They were this weird shape, I don't even know what shape it was, lol, and I was thinking that I'd never seen sugars that shape. That night, I was setting up my mobile/cell phone account and I was asked to pick a password and the first thing that came to mind was sugar so I used it, [this was four years ago, so no trying to mug me for my phone, lollol.]
I used to go on accessible chat, for the people and poker as ghost for a while, but people, for some reason, by default, used to assume that I was a guy and I got really fed up of it, so I thought I'd changed my name and sugar was just something that stuck. Weird but what did we all expect? smile

Where I got my screen name is a question I get all the time. It's actually not as interesting a story as you might imagine. There's this web site called www.phonespell.org. You can put in your phone number, and it tells you if it spells out anything. When I put in my number, I got back wet jerk surrounded by some extra digits. So I changed my msn name to wet jerk to see what kind of reaction I'd get, and I just left it that way. Since it's been that way on msn for so long, I started using it for other things as well.

Well, I shouldn't have to explain this, but this is for all the peeps who keep QuickNoting me to tell me I made a typo in my username: There is a pop band from the U.S. called Blink182. I'm not really a fan of theirs, but I often wondered why they chose that name. Blink is a slang (occasionally considered dirrogatory) name used to refer to blind people. So I wondered, "What was Blink182 trying to say: that if every Blink was assigned a number, they'd be Blink182?" I realize that none of them are blind, but this is irrelevant. Well, I figured, since they were the 182nd blink, I must be the 183rd. So to sum this story up in one phrase: my name is a double entendre. I hope this dry, logical explanation has succeeded in removing any humor from my username. Recently I've been adopting a trend of picking accounts based on my fave songs, i.e. "Minuano" by Kurt Elling/Pat Metheny or "Epistrophe" by Thelonious Monk. If I were to change my username, I'd probably change it to one of these, so snatch them now before I do!
Well, "Harbinger of Metal" is the name of a Reverend Bizarre album...one of my favourite doom albums to come out in recent years in fact. It has a good sound to it (the name, that is) and because I love metal and am often touting it to various people, calling myself the Harbinger seems somehow appropriate if a little presumptuous. It's also my subtitle thingy on http://www.metal-archives.com, where I am one of the mods.

Anyway, I'd just been reading a whole lot of linguistics stuff, specifically some phonetics articles, and at the time it asked me for a user-name I was having one of those insomniac brain-farts about how 'resonant' was a cool word because it sounds like what it means but also means what it sounds like, or some such crap that seemed to make sense at the time.

I can't actually remember how I came up with '
ellectra'; I've been using it on and off as my S/N for around four years now, so its conception has faded with time. I've always liked the name 'Elektra' though, so I suppose that spelling it differently made it more 'unique'. It's also a kind of pun on my real name, which is Ellie, but spelled differently of course. :-)
I chose my name on here because it's like a shortened version of my real name, and people used to call me it at college a lot and it's stuck, and it's a good ailius for people to not know my real identity unless I want them to, I think it kind of suits me anyway in a weird sort of way.

This really is a cool topic. It's interesting to learn about usernames. I've been wondering about some of these too. Mine is pretty simple. As a big Harry Potter fan, I chose firebolt which is Harry's magic broomstick. It flies higher and faster than the rest. *smile*
My username, DizzyLizzy85, is actually a pretty blah username compared to some of the other things I've been known to go by, most notably the handel unsilenceddream on various websites or programs. I actually like that name better, because it's more nifty, and souns cool, but that's neither here nor there I guess. DizzyLizzy85 comes from the fact that my name is Liz, and in my last guide dog class, one of the people there also getting his dog told me that there was this old song, something about "You make me dizzy Miss Lizzy", and when I set up my Zone account, it was close to the time I had just came back from guide dog school, and I just went with that, and yay for run on setnences? Um, no, actually not... Anyway, that's the story behind my name. I hate coming up with usernames as a general rule, but I obviously managed to come up with one.

It came about because I used to take after some members of my family, putting my first innitial, last name as my user name. Well let me explain my old usernames. First when i signed up i was spfan15 just picked it and its a very long story. Then changed it to spfan2k6 because south park fan and the year 2006. And now O&AFan567!!! yay!!! I picked this because i am a big huge O&A fan, you can even call me a pest and yeah O&A fan btw that stands for Opie and anthony wich is a comedy talk show more information is on the boards in broadcasters loung. And 567 is just a random number. and those are my usernames. But on otherones like MSN is radiodj246 because i love radio and want to be a radio dj so radiodj246 is just another random number. Lol don't know why but yeah that's all.
I think i just made it up and decied to stick with it. It was better than sammy the snail.

OK. I guess I should update this since I recently changed my user name. *smile* For this one, I got tired of the name Tinkerbell (even though I still have that as my screen name on MSN and Skype but oh well.) *smile* But anyways, so my SN change on here comes from the fact that I like the word "princess", and then my middle name because I didn't want to use numbers or a different person's name and did not think I'd want to keep hearing only a part of my name, so that's where I got "Princess Leilani" from.

I have gone from cat lover (pretty self-explanatory), to Buckeye Cat (I am a Buckeye from Ohio and love cats), and now to Buckeye Fan (decided to change buckeye cat to buckeye fan just for the hell if it).
I can't imagine being anything else but wonderwoman, it's almost as much of a part of me as my real name, so changing it to something else would feel like changing my actual name.

I just recently changed my username, so now I have to explain this one. Amethyst Moon evolved out of a few things. When Sage Rose, our friend Jade and I were talking about Hobbits from the Lord of the Rings, we were thinking of what good Hobbit names for us would be. Most Hobbits have either antique and way too ugly names like Lobelia or they have stone names i.e. Diamond Longcleeve, Pippin's wife, or flower names, i.e. Rosie Cotton. We didn't like the names that the Hobbit Name Generator website gave us, so I looked up Hobbit last names and we made up names on our own. We got Sage Rose Thistlewood, Jade Rushlight, and Amethyst Underhill. I loved the Amethyst and wanted to use it for music publishing and poetry writing and whatnot, like a pen name, but Underhill was too Hobbitish and wouldn't fit or be as creative in the real world. I love the night and the moon and stars and things, so I chose Amethyst Moon as a pen name and it stuck as a screen name too. I've had to modify it on some sites though as a lot of people apparently like to use Amethyst Moon, so I've used the German word mond which means moon instead.
I guess I'll post to this topic now, since everyone seems so fond of asking me if my username means that I'm a stripper. Which it does not, thanks. Lol. I have a very hard time explaining this, but let's see ... Dancing is something I never do, unless I'm listening to a really, really good song and am alone in my room or with my best friend. I never danced at school dances, except homecoming, because it always makes me feel self-conscious and I think everyone is staring at me, which of course they're not. After dark, in this case, represents the time when we feel comfortable letting our guard down, releasing our inhibitions and just going a little crazy. It's usually a time when we think that no one we know or whose opinion we care about is watching/listening, so whatever we do won't come back to embarrass us later. So, put it together and you get DancingAfterDark, or releasing your inhibitions and doing things you wouldn't ordinarily do, without worrying who's around or what they'll think.
I thought I had posted to this topic already, but apparently I haven't. I think on the Getting to Know You board, Iternity had asked something similar, and I answered it there. But since everyone keeps asking if I'm a nun, here goes. A good friend of mine is writing a series of stories about a fictional sisterhood of vampiresses. (Well, not truly vampires, because they can be about in the day time.) Anyway, he wanted to pattern a character after me, and I told him he should call me Dawn, because I am usually a morning person. So he did, and the name SisterDawn was born. Now it's my usual online name on things like All in Play, Skype, and so forth.
I to answered this in Iternity's board, but I'll put it here so everyone knows. I wrote about my former user name, "2carrella" in the last one...that came from an Australian singer Emmanuel Carrella...I'm a big fan of his. My one I use now, is because quite simpley, I like lion's, and my name is Liz...so being that I'm female, Lioness Liz seemed a gooder choice as any. That, and that I had to change my user name...for reasons I'm not allowed to go in to.
About me it's very simple! I chose for my username, the name of my dog! It's a black retriver, it's not my guide dog! It's just my friend, however I love him so I dicided to use the same name than him! Gretings

Well, I should really chime in here as well, everyone else seems to have done it so why don't i? It could really help actually, since a lot of people ask me what the name means and when they try to spell it they usually get it wrong. Anyways, here's the story. When i got on the net in early 1998, I had to come up with an e-mail address for my then dial-up internet provider. I absolutely did not want to use my first and last name in my e-mail address since first of all that is realy boring and secondly sometimes it's just good to have a nickname. So for a while I tried to think of one but couldn't. So one night I'm scanning the channels and the cartoon network comes on and the show on at the time was called Toonheads, which was a bunch of older cartoons re-packaged in half hour shows. So then the name hit me, Toonhead! Everyone wants to think it's tune, like a song, which is great because I am a dj and I love music, but this name shows that i really still like some cartoons like The Simpsons, South Park, and a lot of the ones on Adult Swim like Aquateen Hunger Force. So, there you have it, that is how I became toonhead. or for the purposes of this site, DJ Toonhead Now wasn't that exciting? Oh sure it was, you know it! LOL

My oeal name is Brandi, as many of you know. I do explain my username in my profile, but it's basically a good description of my life. Sunshine is the joyful things I already have, and rain is the joys to come. Also, my favorite quote (not sure who says it) is, "It takes both sunshine and rain to make a rainbow." It takes the good and the bad in your life in order for God to make something truly magnificent out of you. Chances are, I will never change it. I like it very much, and lots of people have complimented me on it. So, SunshineAndRain it is, and so it shall be.
I changed my username since I last posted, so I decided to give the story on my new one. Well, I love turtles, and I love heavy metal, so one day I was like, "I'm bored with my old username, I think I'll change it." I had a Slipknot song in my head and I was thinking about turtles. So I thought of how funny it would look for a turtle to be jumping all over a stage screaming heavy metal, because turtles don't make any sound at all! So yeah, there's the new story on my username.
My turn I guess.rst user name on here, Nightshadow91, was because I wanted to pick something different, then what I usually pick, which I'll tell down below. After a while, I thought I need a change of names. So, I thought, and came up with "well, I love music", and the master part just kinda ffell in to place. The 91 part is because of my birthyear 1991. So, I'm music master91. Usually, I''m known as blindndangerous. I got that one from when I wanted to change my username on AIM, from vidgamemaster91 (because I love video games), and I was talking to my friends and they were giving me usernames to see which one I liked, and one of them said well, what about blind_and_dangerous? It wouldn't fit, so we shortened it to blindndangerous. If I had another name change, I'd probably swap it to that one. I'm known as that on klango, skype, aim and most message boards and games. First, my user name was winterfresh because there was a resurgence of winterfresh gum commercials on the radio and one was a little jingle that was a girl from the Bronx singing a song that she wrote. my best friend Brooke and I looooooooovd singing it because it was a two voice song and we made up some tight harmonies Then, a month after she signed up for the zone, I did as well and used that. Now, to my updated user name, as anyone will know, if they looked at my profile, Latino heat is the nickname of my favorite wrestler Eddie Guerrero. Onn November 13, 2005, at the tender age of 38, Eddie Guerrero was found dead in his hotel room of a heart attack. Unfortunately, I had only been watching wresting for about a year at that point, and there was so much I didn't know about him. My first user name matched me so perfectly! Pernicious is a synonym for destructive, and that's just what I am. And I consider myself and live like a princess.
I changed my user name because I was getting bored with my prior one. I wanted something that sounded kick ass! I decided to stick with an alliteration because I think they're awesome. So I made a very short list of adjectives and nouns, and this is what I wanted most. Creative, huh? I bet no other individual would have even considered such a list.

Since I do get asked quite a bit about my username, I'll explain:
The first one, WildStar2005, was a combination of what I always imagined my superhero name would be and the year I graduated high school.
The current one, which I pretty much use everywhere now, is derived from my favorite anime, Inu-yasha. Inuyasha is a half-demon who comes from rather royal blood. There's not really a princess in his family, though, so I figured I'd take the name. lol. 2006 was the year I came up with it.

when i went to florida, i saw this interesting show featuring a robot that traveled through time. it was all about stopping at diffrent parts of history, and showing 2 of the greatest authors around the world. the show was called the time keeper, and i liked it so much thought i'd use it

A few years back I started making up this list of weird names. In 2002 I had 12 and now there are 150, time flies.
Anyways, one of them was Lilmed Alvindar. Lilmed is pronounced as Leel-Med. I took the first part of that, slapped an E on the end and there you are.
Or if you were vindictive enough you could say I took the seacreature I most resemble and put an L in front of it. Same result either way.
